The prices must be in pesos, Mexico's buses are really very resonable.
IIRC you can figure around 10 cents a mile for first class bus service.

Regular passanger trains have almost completely disappeared in Mexico.
The Copper Canyon train is still operating and there are some excursion
trains here and there. If the timing and price are right the Expreso Maya is
another option to consider:
