Public Transport - Ushuaia to Tierra del Fuego NP Posted on: Sat, 18 Aug 2007 08:59:01 +0000 (UTC)

Hi

I have an Antarctic trip booked for January. My itinerary has me
arriving in Ushuaia fairly late Thursday evening and joining the ship
Saturday. This gives me one free full day (Friday) in Ushuaia.

What I would like to do on this free day is to go walking in Tierra
del Fuego NP. Because I arrive late Thursday Evening and only have
the next day free, I won't have any time to organise anything once I
arrive in Ushuaia and all the local travel agents I have e-mailed
enquiring about day trips haven't replied.

However, I will be staying in the Hotel Albatros and understand that
there is a public bus service to/from Tierra del Fuego NP with a bus
stop outside the Albatros, so it may be simpler (and cheaper) to just
"do my own thing".

How frequent is this bus service and what time is the last bus back
from the NP?

Is the Tierra del Fuego bus stop conveniently located for hiking
trails?

Another option would be to get a cab from Ushuaia to the NP and
arrange to be picked up at a certain time later in the day; how
feasible is this idea? Alternatively, is it easy to get a cab back
from Tierra del Fuego NP without having to book?

Regards - and thanks in advance!!
