Subject: Re: Flight from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia Posted on: Mon, 1 Oct 2007 03:44:57 +0000 (UTC)

Hi TT:

I'm a local and I try to explain:
You paid 300 when it was 1 peso = 1 US dollar.
But after the big devaluation, flight companies keep prices
in US dollars for foreigners (but for us, locals, they made
a reduction of till 50% otherwise was not possible
for us to fly...).
So be carefull because many times you can find
2 different prices for same fly,.in pesos for us and
in dollars you you. With another extra inconvenience;
peso and dollar simbols are THE SAME: $
If they don't put u$s, and the site is form Argentina,
you should understand that is in pesos.

Then with the present value of 1 US dollar = 3.15 pesos,
1600 pesos means u$s 500. Anyway some return tickets
in economy flights can be buyed at less price in low season
or special offers or days..

If you need some extra info about Argentina,
mainly accommodation in a guesthouse in BA,
see my website www.lodging4all.com.ar
or email me.

saludos/regards
Juan Carlos
