Subject: A week in and around Rio Posted on: Wed, 12 Dec 2007 08:28:02 MST

We, married couple in 60's, will be in Rio from March 27 to April 4. We
would like to hear from others who have been there about how best to spend
our time. We are not the party animal types and I know Carnivale is over.
We are more interested in local people, smaller towns, quieter beaches,
cultural events and simply exploring. We could sign up for various day
tours and likely we will. But what about things that people have found that
are not really part of organized tours?

Also, while we might enjoy 4 and 5 star hotels, we can only afford the
smaller 2 and 3 star ones. Any recommendations? All we really need is safe
and clean.

We would love to hear of any experiences you have had in Rio and we thank
you in advance.
