Nice site, Wayne. We stayed with Doug a few years back on the end of our
own trip, and rode horses in and around his beautiful ranch.
Our train ride from El Fuerte to Divisidaro was during heavy rain, and we
saw hundreds and hundreds of vernal waterfalls, some over a thousand feet
high.
We spent a few days in Batopilas at the canyon bottom, in a tiny hotel with
only three guest rooms, but right on the river. After NYC, Batopilas was
the second city in North America to have electricity, yet two years ago they
were busy running the first power lines to the next village, just two miles
away. Batopilas has an ancient public water supply system, with the best
city water we've ever had anywhere. No wonder, because it filters down
through thousands of feet of sandstone.
For anyone who has considered a trip to Copper Canyon, it truly is every
good/amazing/phenomenal thing you've heard about it. We used California
Native for our arrangements, but traveled on our own.
