I have CLL and hypogammaglobulinemia (try saying that with your mouth
full). The jab is just as likely to kill me as the YF.
When I travel I am scrupulous about mosquito deterrence (long sleeves,
80% DEET, common sense). I have traveled malarial and dengue areas
(Cambodia, India, Egypt, Mexico, North Queensland) without any
problems so I am comfortable about visiting Iguassu which is the only
YF endemic area on this trip; although the Galapagos is being
suggested as also endemic.
Although I have advice from the Brazilian Embassy that I won't have a
problem provided I have a doctor's letter the Argentine response has
been less clear. Remote border areas may not be in sync with the
centre as well. So I was wondering what really happens at the land
borders.
Cheers, Alan, Australia.
