Thanks, John. Great advice. I did get on Lonely Planet (all
afternoon!) and have a lot of my questions answered.
I did read that one about the gauchos wearing digital watches! I
believe it went on to say to go to Colonia instead but I haven't
figured out where that is.
Unfortunately we have to watch the $$$, and I'm trying to find a way
that we (seniors) can do it and not break the bank. We aren't the
fancy hotel types, but not hikers at our age either!
