Faye:

I was reading and was pleased to hear that you felt a less threatening
atmosphere in La Ceiba than me ... all the way up to the "15 years ago"
part. I was there also around that time and there was much safer feeling.
Walked down the beach at night to a 2 or 3 table restraunt, went to bars
late and walked back to the hotel medio bolo ... things I wouldn't do now.
As others have mentioned, crime really has risen a lot and even though
nothing happened to me crime wise, I still realized that crime has risen ...
so I felt like I needed to be on the lookout so to speak.

Roatan has certainly changed a lot in the last 15 years! The days of
comfortable $5 rooms on the beach are long gone.
