I'm a long way off from retiring too, more's the pity (not that I want
to wish the years away!). However, the idea of living cheaply in a
great climate with a relaxed way of life and friendly people about, is
obviously attractive. I wonder about the ways to make a modest living
in such a place as Thailand or Mexico or wherever, and there must be
plenty of people out there 'living the dream'. You could have a proper
business, such as a guest house or a bar. You could have an 'unproper'
business, like selling trinkets on the beach. Or maybe you make a
living from the internet. I'm sure there are hundreds of interesting
storeis out there. Bring 'em on!
