I rented a car and drove around San Jose, Heredia and then to
Guanacaste to Tamarindo. I've driven quite a bit in Mexico (not to
mention Texas where I live), and I didn't find it unnerving at all. In
fact, except for in San Jose where the traffic and street layout can be
a problem, I didn't find the ticos to be any fiercer than drivers than
we have in Austin, Texas.

("...what can we women know, save philosophies of the kitchen? It was well put by Lupercio Leonardo that one can philosophize quite well while preparing supper. I often say, when I make these little observations, "Had Aristotle cooked, he would have written a great deal more.")
