Harry,

Yeah, I know what people say about opinions. Just out of curiosity, what do
you base your opinion of Fidel Castro on? The US has no problem doing
business with far more odious (read: Saddam Hussein) fellows, historically
and in the present. How free am I as an American if I can't travel to Cuba
if I so choose? In fact, Cuba is the only country on the list of Terrorist
Sponsoring States (a list it doesn't belong on in the first place) that
Americans cannot travel to. North Korea, Iran, Syria...you betcha! Not
Cuba, though. A free Cuba in the eyes of the US government is a Cuba
subserviant to US interests, no more and no less. Castro's major crime, the
one that *really* irks Bush, and every other administration since 1959, is
his staunch unwillingness to cede Cuba as the 51st state. While no angel,
to be sure, Fidel Castro is not the demon he has been made out to be by US
popular culture, and in my opinion (and your disclaimer applies here, as
well) he is a man with more integrity and honor than George W Bush could
ever hope to muster.
