It is unlikely the roads will EVER get better in Costa Rica. Too much
rain, and not enough money...
Get a 4 wheel drive.
My advice re finding out if they have automatics: look up car rental
in Costa Rica on Google. Look at a web site that rents them, if they
don't say, e-mail them and ask. You may want to reserve one before
going. I have seen times when there was hardly a car to be rented in
Costa Rica.
Personally, I think driving there is too dangerous, especially in the
wet season, and in the back country. But many people do it. I take the
bus. That's dangerous too! Or if you can afford it, the best and
safest way is to hire a taxi or van to take you where you want to go! |
