Re: Insects( careful with deet) Posted on: Fri, 26 Dec 2003 15:40:02 +0000 (UTC)

Go to a good camping store and you should be able to find an

Hi just a point on using high percentage deet ( 90% +), You have got
to be careful not do over apply this stuff as it can be a skin
irritant. Rumours of it melting plastic are not that far fetched!!
Dont cover your whole body in the stuff and keep it well away from
eyes ( To apply to face and hair spray on hands and rub in, be
carefull when you sweat as it will run in your eyes.) Being from
scotland I am use to mozzies and especially the infamous scottish
midge !! I would recommend using the 90% stuff at dusk and dawn when
insects are at their worst and use a lesser deet inbetween. But do use
sprays with deet as it is probably the only substance that will deter
the litte b#**#*ds. Another good tip is to use 90% deet on your
clothes ( careful about corosion), I think you can get special stuff
to wask your clothes and mozzie net in.

Good luck,
