If you are of normal health, then using a backpack instead of a suitcase
will make you far more nimble and speedy, especially in crowded places like
Mexican bus stations. Only problem in your situation is that it will lead to
impatience with the traveling companion who is still using a suitcase, who
will now constantly be holding the group up.
