The last time I was there,we were staying in a liitle hotel in Machacilar
and asked the owner to book us a room in Tikal. We are on pretty good terms
with this man, and he called and booked us a room for the nights that we
wanted and we paid him the wholesale cost, which was around $65/night. That
was in March, and only a couple of days before we were going to be there.
You should be able to do the same thing when you are in country by going to
one of the travel agencies that are in the major tourist areas of Guatemala.
Lacking that, you can always just show up and get a room just outside the
park.
