I've used both Backpack and Suitcase with wheels. A heavy backpack can
put a strain on your back after a while. A suitcase on a surface that
isn't wheel friendly can also be a strain after a while. I guess that's
what baggage handlers, sky captains and bell captains are for. I tip
them nicely.
The only time a backpack has it over as suitcase is if I am in someplace
like Key West where the bicycle is the preferred mode of
transportation. It's easier to ride a bike with a backpack on my back
or in the carry basket than trying to balance a 28" Pullman on the
handlebars, or trail it along.
