The Panamericana: On the Road Through Mexico and Central America (Trails of
the Unexpected)
by Simon Calder

Synopsis
"Trails of the Unexpected" is a series combining travel writing with an up-
to-date gazetteer and survival kit. This book takes the reader along one of
the world's greatest highways, the Carretera Panamericana. Calder travels
from the US Mexican border to the jungles of the Darien Gap in Panama.

I haven't read it myself, but Simon Calder is a veteran
traveller/backbacker. He's on a lot of travel shows in the UK. Cool guy,
and knows his stuff. Doesn't cover the whole of the route though.
