Renting a car is fine....although probably not in DF. Howver, the buses
are cheap and frequent. Unless you have 3 or 4 adults taxis and buses
will be cheaper.

Also, ALWAYS confirm the taxi cost prior to gettting into the taxi. I
know this rule, but in Acapulco (where the fare is always at 20
pesos)...the one time I forgot to confirm the guy tried to charge me 40
pesos...my hotel manager shamed him into the proper pric!

Note: In Acapulco, at the bus station, they have price fixing. Just
walk half a block away and flag someone down.

First, get yourself a travel guide. I like Let's Go or the South
American Handbook. Get yourself acquainted with the options and times.

Second, you can do a Google and find mexican bus times.

Third, there are SO many buses, just find the correct station (see
first point above) and go there. If you need to wait 2 hours just
explore.

Easter week and Christmas week are the two rough times. We were in DF
for Easter week, but it was relatively empty.

Certainly no need for the last night....you will be better positioned
once you are in town.

DF is great.
