Subject: Thinking of Pureto Escondido Posted on: Fri, 30 Jan 2004 00:52:51 CST

Hi again group,

now I am giving some thought to adding Puerto Escondido to the
itinerary which begins with a flight into Mexico City (most likely),
and 7 to 10 days in the country.

First, what do visitors of Puerto Escondido have to say about it?
Perhaps the choice may come between 'Puerto' and Acapulco for a beach
destination. (I'm not overly excited about the 'westernized' tourist
scene of Acapulco, but would find it acceptable if the area has much
more to offer in addition.)

And how about bus travel to Puerto Escondido? Apparently the ride from
Mexico City is about 18 hours. Yikes! Oaxaca city is about 6.5 hrs.
Why the long haul to Puerto, and can anyone suggest a better option,
such as taxi from Oaxaca? Perhaps if Puerto is in the itinerary, it
would be good to break the trip up into 2 or 3 days.

thanks for any thoughts, and perhaps suggestions of must-see places in
the triangle of Mexico City-Puerto Escondido-Acapulco.
