Oh, I agree it is unique; it just didn't have a 'feel' to it for me
(or my DH). It seemed to be nothing except a tourist trap which, of
course, to an extent that is what it is.

Again, I agree. However, the order I would put the sites would be
Coba/Uxmal joint first, then Chichen Itza, then Tulum. If I am ever
lucky enough to revisit the Yucatan. I would, without hesitation,
revisit Uxmal and Coba, but I wouldn't bother again with Chichen Itza
or Tulum. I did love Chichen Itza but I think that is partly because
we decided to stay at the Hacienda Chichen for a couple of days and
could visit it fairly early in the morning, before all the tourist
buses arrived (something I would highly recommend) and we spent the
best part of two days exploring the site. I wouldn't, however, bother
with Tulum again because it doesn't seem to lend itself to more than
one visit in a lifetime. Just my opinion.
