I'm also travelling to Mexico on a shoe-string budget.
I find the "Let's Go" guides indispensable for recommendations
on cheap, clean and safe lodging. They have many affordable
listings for each destination in Mexico.

I'm looking at listings for Oaxaca and I see dorm style
beds for $5 per night. And double bed rooms for $18 per night.

If you don't wanna spring for the book, go by your local
Barnes & Noble and write down the info.

Or if you need to...you can email me and I can email you
some of the specifics.

Have fun!
