Personally if this were my 10 day trip I would do Mexico City (2 days
max). See the museum of anthropology, Teotihaucan and a few other
things. Next I would bus out to Oaxaca. For 2 or 3 days. Go to
Monte Alban, the museum of anthropology (where they have one of the
best pre colombian gold collections, at least they used to), hang out
in the zocalo (town square), go many times to the market. Eat mole,
drink mescal and groove on the vibe. Next I would look up the
thrread about taking a minivan for 130 pesos to Peurto Escondito.
Spend 5 days there then go back to DF to catch your return home.
From Oaxaca if you wanted something more adventerous, instead of PE
take the bus to Puerto Angel and then go stay in Zipolite or Mazunta.
Acapulco, Cuernavaca, Taxco while nice are all tourist traps and ok
if you plan on spending big bucks. Also good if you want English
speaking people serving you in restaurants, etc.
Oaxaca, PE (or Zipolite/Mazunta would take you to much nicer places,
nicer people, tourists but more adventerous types, and in PE/ Zipolite
a much nicer beach. Just like some say careful at night walking in
deserted places.
Just my 2 cents. |
