Re: Gringo in B.A. Posted on: Wed, 25 Feb 2004 22:44:47 GMT

I have been to Argentina several times, and I speak Spanish, but it seems to
me that there are a relatively large number of English-speaking Argentines
in Buenos Aires, especially younger people. My recollection is also that
some of the restaurants popular with tourists have some English on their
menus.

If your limited Spanish gets you into a conversation that you can't finish,
don't worry. The people are also among the friendliest I've come across
anywhere, so I would bet that if you ask someone on the street, or in a
store, if he speaks English and he doesn't, he (or she) will try to find
someone who does.

Good luck!
