That certainly could be a reason....

I'll stick with credit and ATN cards (although my wife and I have them set
up on two different accounts, so that if one craters, the other works (plus
being able to use the Amex as an alternative). For those without, the new
Amex "pre-filled" cash card seems preferable to travelers checks which had
become harder and gharder to cash 20 years back...
