If you'd like to try regional fare, you might try "Los Alemendros"
for some "Mayan Cookin'". I haven't eaten at the Cancun one, but
judging from the other two, in Merida, and Ticul, it's the real deal.
I suspect it's more expensive, but what the heck, it's Cancun!
For a day trip, or "booze cruise", be sure to visit Isla Mujeres.
You'll wish you would have stayed on Isla, but there's always next
time....
Your hotel will offer several excursions, ruins, & snorkelling, and
probably fishing trips too. The fishing isn't particularly good near
Cancun, but you might get lucky, and catch a 50 lb Grouper! I hope
you know how to get a big ice chest of fish home...
Cancun, is like a goldrush, or an oil boomtown. It really isn't
what visiting Mexico is all about IMHO, but it can sure be fun in
December, especially if you're coming from somewhere cold...
Oh, yeah, Cancun has a great airport too! I can't understand why QR
hasn't made Cancun the Capital, instead of Chetumal, even if Chetumal
was first.
