You can fly Mexicana Airlines from Mexico City You buy a visa right
in the airport next to the Mexicana gates. The visa is a seperate
document and does not go into your passport. We were treated well by
everyone and felt very safe. By all means, stay at the Hotel National.
If you want to know what's going on in the country, ask your waiter.
Havana is very shabby with the high rise Russian built aparatments
falling down while people are still living in them. Lots of poverty,
you don't see beggers with their hands out, it's in their eyes. You
want to take your clothes off and give it to them.
Dollars was the curency when we were their, my guess is they let you
exchange for pesos at the airport. Bring cash, they don't accept
American based bank cards. You can pre-pay your hotel with a Mexican
travel agency and their is practically nothing to buy except (very
expensive) cigars. |
