I'm hoping to plan a quick 2-3 week backpacking trip to CA. I've been
to Guatemala many times and had a great time every time. Haven't been
to El Salvador. Which should I look at this time?
Guatemala: on the plus side, it's quite familiar to me, a wonderful
country and so much to do. On the down side, it's quite familiar to
me, you can never go back, and I have heard that it's become more
dangerous (kidnapping for ransom, etc.)
El Salvador: on the plus side, it would be totally new and fresh for
me. But the unknown... and half of the fun of travel for me is meeting
other travelers. Is there a gringo trail in El Salvador that I could
come back to here and there, if I wanted to meet other backpackers?
