Yes that rather is something I fear to get flamed for. It's also difficult
to say if it's only my impression, that is only concerning a certain group
of people, and I have not shaken hands with the complete population of the
two Islands, but...I just thought of them as too relaxed and too easy going
and too much beach and party and I don't know, lack of discipline even? That
could be the holiday resort thing also, although since I speak Spanish I was
not only travelling in the tourist resorts.
In the Netherlands we have a commercial, promoting Malibu a carrebean drink.
Then you see a bus full of locals somewhere, and the man entering the bus
complains, 'like a european/american yuppie' about the bus being late. And
then in the commercial they say, if we in the carrebean where not easy
going, we never invented Malibu. And then I think....if you in the carribean
were a little bit less easy going, there would not be so much problems and
poverty there.
Sorry but I just did not like this. I know some people hate me for it, but
what I do not like I do not like. I've been to Spain and I liked that
country more. Although I also have not shaken hands with all Spanish, so
this is a limited impression also.
