You might consider the North Coast of the Dominican Republic. We just went
there and stayed at the Coconut Palms Resort for a week with my neices, age
7 and 4. My sister and her husband said it was the best vacation they have
ever had since the kids were born.
Resort is individual apartments around a central pool, shuttle to the beach
(but it is walkable, mabye 1/3 mile) and shuttle to nearby towns of Cabarete
and Sosua.
Optional meal plan very reasonable, and half price for kids.
