hey..
me and a friend are planning to backpack across central america.. we
haave abt 2 weeks of time and are on a tight budget.. :X
wat do you experienced backpackers out there recommend? i have
backpacked all across europe myself and loved every single second of it
(sigh, wat wud i give to do it again?)..
any recommendations? i've lived in the US for abt 8 yrs, but dont hold
a passport.. :( so i'll have to get visas.. given the short time we
dont plan to go to more than 2 (at most 3) countries.. i know ppl out
there wud say that 14 days is too short even for one country! but i m
starting a job in early july and have only that much time.. mabe we cud
extend it to 20 days, but then we're on a budget too.. :( ahh.. such
an exasperating feeling of wanting to travel but not having enough
money to do so!
anyway.. which 2-3 countries along with destinations do you recommend
the most? any places we should make sure that we dont go to? i m
starting to hear mixed reviews abt honduras now.. great country, great
beaces but an increasing amount of violence? we're going to be 2
recent college grads travelling by ourselves.. hoping to meet a lotta
ppl! also, wat do u think is the avg age/language that backpackers
thru central amrecia are/speak? like through europe it was mostly
rowdy americans/australians.. it was great! partied every nite in the
hostels and had a great time.. when i went across morocco it was much
more of an older crowd.. ppl in their 30's - 40's and a lotta ppl on
tours..
do young ppl indeed make it out to central america or are just stuck in
europe?
also, how is transportation thru central america? trains? buses? how
much does it cost? certainly dont wanna fly!
how abt the weather out there in mid june? cuz i wanted to backpack
across western india and was told that the monsoons would be taking
their toll across the region and travel is very poor.. hows central
america? i dont expect perfect weather everyday but is it decent
enough to go to the beaces, walk arnd the city or does is it supp to
rain a lot arnd that time?
and just in general i'd love to hear abt anyone's experience
backpacking thru central america.. any (mis)adventures? and just
anything in general.. i m getting sooo excited abt this trip!!
