Re: Where is this place in W. Mexico? - drive vs. bus Posted on: Mon, 28 Nov 2005 15:05:40 GMT

It's really psychological. People worry about flying, when flying is 10
times as safe as driving the same distance. People think that they are
safer when they are in control, even if it is not true. Yes, I have
seen some bus driving that I thought was scary, but not that often. But
if you think of a bus as a coffin then you will never be happy on a bus,
so plan to rent a car. Just don't kid yourself that the car is the
only, or best, way to travel Mexico.

Bus accidents are not all that common in Mexico, and are apt to involve
the lower class buses. The higher class buses have newer equipment, and
probably pay their drivers a bit more. I think that the State
Department recommends the first class buses; I do also.
