i used my ATM card all over Buenoes Aires. the withdraw options are

CREDIT
SAVINGS
CHECK

use savings or checking

in BA 300 pesos is $100 USD. and 300 pesos gets you quite far, not
sure what uruguay is

it's only a few bucks fee, and i found using ATMs much more convenient
than exchanges, trav checks, USD

oh and call your bank too before you leave ant tell them
