I emailed them to complain about the fact that their rates were higher than
regular rack rates on most hotel websites. They responded that they would
match any other price obtainable by the general public.
Now who wants to do tha?. Reserve through them, then search out a lower
rate, then go back to Hotels.com/ca and prove that you got a lower price,
then wait for some clerk to approve your complaint and match it. Explain to
me why any consumer would waste time doing that? What's in it for me?
I responded that I think they should ensure that they negotiate a lower
price than what the public can get, so the public doesn't have to go through
that nonsense. I've never heard back from them.
Again - if I have to hunt around for lower rates and then pray that they
will honour their guarantee later, what, exactly is the incentive for me to
use them at all?
My conclusion remains the same: Stay away from them!
