You can pay with US dollars anywhere in Montreal but that doesn't mean
you will get a fair exchange rate for it. So paying the bank's fee might
be better.

I think all banks in Montreal can do it. As long as they are open. They
usually close at 3pm on weekdays and are not open on weekend. But it
won't be hard to find an exchange counter downtown.

That should work. I do it when I go to the States so I don't see any
reason why it wouldn't work on the other side. Check with you bank
before you leave.
