I suppose that it depends on what you mean by saving. In general you
will get a decent discount price easily. It will rarely be the best
available price but occasionally it will make it. The variety of rates
and discounts makes any generalization difficult.

It is very unlikely that you would recover the cost of membership in 20
nights. Then again AAA isn't primarily in the discount lodging
business. There are other benefits.
