We ad the pleasure of being at this park last week,
Wednesday through Friday.
We active senior grandparents, took our two grandchildren
and other than the oppressive heat had a wonderful time.
Our grandkids are 10 and 5. They were able to enjoy most of
the park on our first day of the visit. We were there about
6 hours and had no more than a 20 minute wait for any of the
rides. The kids were different heights so some of the down
time was waiting for one or the other to ride whatever was
available for their height.
The water park is wonderful with something for all ages. The
dress code is specific about what can be worn outside the
water park areas. Signage calls it to your attention.
The dolphin show is very good and a nice place to cool off
and get out of the sun.
However, the coolest places in the entire park are the
restrooms and changing rooms which are air conditioned.
Extremely clean and a welcome respite.
It goes without saying that the biggest hit with my grandson
was the new roller coaster: Storm Runner. He absolutely
loved that ride and his grandfather did too. They never
waited more than 20 minutes on line and were able to choose
where they wanted to sit.
Our second day we spent doing rides that were favorites and
taking some rides we had missed. The park has plenty of
activities for all ages and each area has something for
everyone. We had some thunderstorms with lightning on our
second day and that shut the park down for awhile. We also
encountered some large school groups which caused somewhat
longer lines on the older kids rides. We found that we had
enjoyed our first day more than the second. The school
groups were mostly unsupervised teen-agers. We did spend
about 5 hours our second day.
Our third day at the park we devoted to seeing Chocolate
World. This is a good place to purchase the Hershey treats
and souvenirs totally unrelated to the park. It also has a
wonderful 3-D movie which we all really enjoyed. This is an
extra expense. We spent about 2 hours here and that was
plenty. It is a marketing whirlwind. Total overload for the
kids.
In my opinion the refreshment/food prices at Hershey Park
are too expensive. You are not allowed to bring coolers or
food into the park.....well we did see some with water
bottles etc. They do inspect very briefly your backpacks. The
only fountains we found for water were at the restrooms but
at least the water was cold. Lemonade for example is 3.50
per cup, parking is 7.00 per car, and for two seniors, one
junior and one regular on the two day ticket we spent
172.00. We definitely enjoyed our time at the park.
We would recommend the park to anyone. We did not stay in
Hershey. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Harrisburg West and it
was great. It was about a 20 minute ride to the park and the
hotel included a full breakfast daily, indoor and outdoor
pools, free miniature golf and great restaurants within
minutes of the hotel.
Hope anyone who is thinking about going to this park does
go. It is clean, seemingly well managed and lots of fun.
