I found a small, pocketsize Michelin guide, called "New York City
Must-Sees", to be
very helpful. Easy and unobtrusive to carry, with great maps.
One of the high points of my recent trip was taking the subway to
Brooklyn, then walking back to Manhattan on the Brooklyn Bridge. Great
views.
New York City is amazing because you've already seen it so often in
films that it has a familiar feel. Since I grew up in Southern
California, I am used to watching movies and seeing places I recognized
from real life. In NYC, it was the opposite, as I was seeing places in
real life that I recognized from movies!
