My husband, my two-year-old son, and I, have booked a trip from Denver
to Emeryville on Amtrak in December. Could anyone in the know please
answer some questions for us?
1. We have 'reserved coach seats', does this mean that we actually
have reserved seats, or is it first-come, first-serve, i.e. is there a
possibility that we will not be able to get seats together?
2. Are power outlets available on this route? The Amtrak website just
says 'on some routes'.
3. How expensive is the food on board? Are there any stops on the way
that stop long enough to buy food on the train?
4. Are there changing tables available to change my son, or is there a
place that I can change him away from passengers? I don't really like
exposing everyone to his dirty diapers.
5. How hard is it to sleep on the train? Do stops in the middle of
the night tend to result in lots of people tromping up and down the
aisles?
6. Are there seatbelts or another way to fasten a child car seat to
the seats? It will be easier to manage my son at night if he is
strapped in his car seat. For that matter, if anyone here has
travelled with a two-year-old on a train, please include any tips.
7. How bad is travelling around Christmas, really? We are leaving a
few days before Christmas and returning a few days after.
Thanks so much in advance for your info! |
