You should have reserved assigned seats unless your tickets specifically say
unreserved.

You don't need to wait for the train to stop to buy food. In fact it's
usually best if you don't attempt to buy food at a station stop as there
will be people trying to get past you. Trains are not like cars their motion
is not such that you are unable to walk around.

Possible. But highly unlikely unless you are on very modern stock.

Depends on how well you sleep generally. If you can sleep in a car (as a
passenger!) you can probably sleep on a train.
