That's one of the stupidest and most ignorant statements I've ever
seen.

I do not believe that most unions are businesses. They're
organizations.
The proportion of unions and union leaders who are "crooked" is
probably neither lesser nor greater than the proportion of businesses
and business leaders who are "crooked".
My union maintained its same form for longer than 150 years. It is
now, because technology eliminated a vast percentage of our jobs,
affiliated with a larger association of unions but we're still
independent within it.
Thanks to my union, I receive a pension that's just about the same
amount as I get from Social Security. Between the two of them, I
could live just fine. Because of the investments I was able to make
with the discretionary income that my living wage allowed me to have,
I don't have to.
