I can speak to TN and GA, but not LA and MS.
I second April. Autumn in the mountains of TN and GA can be spectacular, but
it's usually the beginning of November, or late Oct., for the colors (if
they happen, depends on rainfall). And all the tourists are on the roads.
But late March and April are incredible, when the dogwoods, azaleas, and
just about everything bloom. (if you have allergies, bring your meds!)
Although you can get snow in the Tennessee mountains in April....
