If you are just after motel style accoms, then I have stayed at the Comfort
Inn on Santa Monica Blvd in Santa Monica. Rooms are fine(just get one back
from the street) Free parking, 24hr minimart next door. Big blue Bus stops
out the front. 5 min drive to Beverly Hills, Beverly Center, 3rd St Prom,
Main Street. Its about a 15 minute drive to Hollywood via the freeway. I
think its was about 75 + tax.
