The Disneyland (note: one word) Resort includes both
Disneyland park and Disney's California Adventure park.
Plus three hotels and Downtown Disney. See www.disneyland.com
for more info.
So there's both a Disneyland Resort and Disneyland park, which
can be very confusing. At least in Florida, there's no Walt
Disney World park to confuse the whole complex's name with!
Also, in California, the hotels are called hotels. In
Florida, they're called resorts. I guess when they went
on the "resort" kick, they realized that calling both the
Disneyland Hotel and the complex the Disneyland Resort
would totally confuse people. :-)
I think the terminology is also confusing in Florida, where
it refers both to hotels and to the entire complex. Besides,
many of the hotels at WDW are not of the sort that most people
would think of when they hear the word "resort." I guess Disney
figures if they have pools and food courts, they're more than
just hotels. Personally, I'd like to see the word "resort"
removed entirely from Disney's vocabulary. ;-)
