I am not going to argue about that. The BAC limit is arbitrary, and there are
probably lots of people who can be double that limit and still drive better than
half the people with a licence.
The fact remains that it is a criminal offence, and having a criminal record is
a drag. Among the other inconveniences is the exclusion of from visa waivers for
visitors to the US and Canada.
