I believe the longest walking tour at Taliesin requires advance
reservations and sometimes is full days ahead of time. Space permitting, the
shorter walking tours can be reserved upon arrival. You can tour the visitor
center/gift shop on the river on your own and can see some of the buildings
from the highway, but if you like FLW's works, a paid tour is the way to go.
Note that Spring Green has other FLW buildings and since you're coming from
Milwaukee, stop off and tour Monona Terrace as well. Much of the Terrace can
be done on your own. The Terrace does have a guided tour once a day or so at
a nominal fee.

Food in Madison: have a pizza and beer at Paisans or Portabella.
