When I travel overseas I consider the taxes/duties I pay upon my return (to
Canada) as a SMALL price of the total trip. I bring back "things" that I need
permits for and don't ever think of bringing back meat products with no
government stamp.

For the European traveller, North American alcohols might be a novelty, but
there are more than enough excellent alcohols in Europe that we simply cannot
buy here.

Clothes and electrical stuff is certainly less expensive in the USA - and just
consider the taxes as still part of the "inexpensive price" of the item. Beware
of the electrical stuff that does not meet European video and voltage
requirements, for if you don't it will not work (generally) in Europe.
