I wouldn't be surprised if Canada becomes "North America's drawing room"
as business meetings and conferences get diverted there. The recent CES
(Consumer Electronics Show) saw a massive withdrawal by Chinese firms
due to inability to get visas in time (started by Haier, I think, and
dominoed).
For those who would poo-poo this as a mere loss for the Chinese consider
that a) a lot of US-based buyers cancelled since they were interested in
seeing the new lines from Haier, etc. and b) those firms will shift their
emphasis to events like CeBit in Hamburg, etc. CES in Vancouver, BC
next year would not surprise me ...
