Hi,
in the last 3 summers we went twice to Cape Cod and once to Florida. We're
a little family, our daughter is now 4 y.o.
I flew in Florida while I drove to Cape Cod twice, and Cape Cod still turned
out as expensive if not more. The Cape Cod community is very pleasing.
Lots of Bed&Breakfast Inns. Some nice beaches when going towards
Princetown. Princetown is a nice little walking town for the late
afternoon/evening stroll. Water was ok the first time, second time it was
freaking cold, couldn't get in!
As for Florida, we searched for the best family oriented destination. For
us, it turned out to be around St-Petersburg/Tampa. We actually stayed in
Treasure Island, right on the beach. Nice day trips from there, Clearwater
beach, Fort De Soto (splendid beach for kids), there's a state park a bit
south of there where you can go for an air boat ride to see gators. The
temperature in mid-july was just fine. Nothing to complain about and the
water.. needless to say was very warm.
Both destinations are good, the atmosphere is very different in both places.
I'd say Cape Cod would be better if you travel with friends/other family.
