When the conditions get to the point where travel distance is reduced, then
the congestion is very high which results in much higher pollution and
significantly higher fuel consumption.

Heat islands increase the use of air conditioning which increases fuel
consumption, which increases CO2 for power plants that use carbon based
fuels, which will effect ocean currents and sea level, which will raise my
taxes to raise the levy since I am across the street from the SF Bay
shoreline and my yard is at or below sea level.
