Tourists need not worry about criminal activity except to take
normal precautions about possible pickpockets --the kind of
precautions one takes in any large and crowded city. You might
want to take taxis after midnight since you aren't a local.
New York City is one of the safest big cities in the nation.
People are out on the streets until very late in the evening.
The notion that New York City is a dangerous place to visit is
very outdated.
